Animated Transparency in Poser 4
Ockham created a cool script that lets you replace the transparency map on-the-fly and render a Poser animation as a series of images. I tweaked his script a bit (ok ok I hacked it up and got my fingerprints all over it). I added listboxes so you can select the actor (well just props right now... haven't added the figure stuff yet!!) and I did some other stuff. It's pretty buggy (now that I've been in it!) but I am putting it here anyway because I tend not to finish my stuff once I get close and this one is probably worth taking a look at right now. If I do clean it up, I will try hard to put the updated version here later. (it's July 11, 2004 right now)

To your right there is a GIF animation of fading smoke. It uses the morphing square from English Bob (technically, it uses four squares) and four different smoke transparency map sequences that I faded to black over thirty files in PSP (black == totally transparent).

Oh, and here's an AVI file of the same thing (50 KB divx 4.x). Right click to save it locally if you want.

Here's the ZIP file with a lot of BMP files that I used for the transparency and a PZ3 file also.. These should get you started. Sorry that it's so bloated with those BMPs.... If you want just the python code, it's right here.

Again, I didn't write the original version of this. Ockham did. I just tweaked it a bunch. :-D
